July 29, 2018 - Fun fly to Massey & Bay

We were enjoying nice flying weather today so I decided to kill two birds with one stone.  I'd fly over to Massey and finish drilling my Triplane spar brackets with their industrial strenth drill press.

Of course, I had to fly the Chester River on the way.

I've been checking out the progress on this waterfront mansion estate.  What a location!

It's gonna be huuuuuuggggeee!

If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford to buy it.

Passing by Chestertown, home of Washington College.

Parked on the ramp at Massey.  I finished drilling the main spar bolt holes on the last five brackets.  It took me about an hour.  Drilling a 3/8" hole through a quarter inch of steel is no joke.

Cruising down the Sassafras River checking out all the boaters on this fine summer day.

Water party!

Where there's a beach, there's usually boats.

I noticed this interesting lilly-covered tributary.

Better check it out.

Heading back towards the Sassafras River.

Cool and green.

A favorie boater hangout.

I landed at Bay Bridge airport and called my Brother-in-law Brad who lives on Kent Island, to see if he wanted to go flying.  He did.  While I was waiting for him, I walked around and looked at the planes on the ramp.

I know this plane.  It's the "Festival" that used to be based at W48 and was used for light sport pilot training.

A Twin for sale.  No thanks.  It's hard enough to keep one engine running.

A Lake amphibian.

The RV-12s are very popular light sport planes.

I took Brad for a ride up the Choptank River and then back to Bay Bridge.  Then it was time to head for home.  Here I am crossing the bay to home base.
